eXp Referral Division FAQ

What is the eXp Referral Division?
The eXp Referral Division provides agents the opportunity to keep their active real estate license with a broker while they take a break from the day-to-day activities of traditional real estate. Agents may refer potential clients to other agents for a fee or percentage of the earned commission.
Why is Referral a division?
eXp Referral is a division under eXp Commercial. This allows us to operate quickly in all 50 U.S. states plus Washington DC, with no ties to the MLS or REALTOR® associations.
If Referral is under Commercial, can I do Commercial?
No, agents in the eXp Referral Division will only be able to refer clients to buy, sell or lease properties. Agents in Referral may not act as an agent on behalf of another party, show properties for the purpose of selling, leasing those properties or engage in any other real estate activities for which a license is required.
What are the fees to be part of the eXp Referral Division?

There is a $50 monthly fee. This gives you access to eXp World, Workplace for interaction and eXp tools including Skyslope, My eXp and eXp University as well as our vast network of qualified professionals worldwide.

What is the Split?

– 75/25: eXp referral
– 70/30: Non-exp Referral

There is no CAP and there is no ability to earn Icon in Referral.

Can I still get Rev Share and stock in the eXp Referral Division?

Yes, you can still get Revenue Share and you may attract and build your Revenue Share group. Any stock you have earned in Realty or Commercial will carry over, however you may not earn stock while in Referral and may not purchase stock at a reduced amount in Referral.

Can I keep my agent healthcare in the eXp Referral Division?
Yes, you may. Agent healthcare coverage falls under the umbrella of eXp corporate level so there is no additional action needed on your part to maintain it.
Can I keep my eXpress Offers Certification?

Yes, you may. In the Referral Division you will not be able to participate in the eXpress Offers program. You will not lose your eXpress Offers Certification if you leave eXp Realty. When you rejoin the Realty division you may have to take a class if there were updates to the program.

Can I still represent myself in a transaction?
Yes, you may. However, you will not have access to MLS, statewide forms and other commonly used tools. We recommend working with an agent who is in Realty to assist you. Please contact your state broker for more information.
Can I represent my child or parents to purchase?
No, as a member of eXp Referral, you are limited to only referral transactions. You may refer them to an agent in eXp Realty or eXp Commercial. You may, however, choose to migrate to Realty or Commercial and represent them as a client.
If I am eXp Realty, can I join Referral in my secondary state?
Yes you may, there will be no fee for a secondary license. This feature will be available soon. So please watch for future announcements.
If I want to move from eXp Realty to Referral, what do I do?

Please contact your state broker team. They are equipped to assist you in the move and your timing. You will sign a new Independent Contractor Agreement and keep your same sponsor.

What if I’m in the Mentor Program?
Agents in the Mentor Program (Realty) or Advisor Program (Commercial) will be removed. You may not mentor agents as part of the Referral Division. You must be active in the company where you mentor agents.
I’m on a team, but want to move to the Referral Division. Is that possible?
There are no teams in Referral, so you will no longer be affiliated with your team. Referral is a separate company from Realty. To be considered a team lead, you must be active in Realty.
What if I already have written referral agreements in place for future business? Do I have to wait until they close to move to the referral network?
No, but any open referrals you have will need to be uploaded into Skyslope once you have joined the Referral Division to ensure proper payment.
Is there a minimum referral fee or percentage required?

No there is not.

If I return to Commercial or Realty, will the transactions & commissions earned in referral count towards Icon?
The Referral Division is designed to help our agents streamline their fees and perhaps take a break from full time real estate sales. Icon is a program designed to enhance and reward our agents in sales production. Any commissions earned in Referral will not count towards a cap or Icon upon return to Realty.

Before you move from Realty or Commercial to Referral, please be aware of the following:

  1. eXp Referral is not a member of the Realtor organization or MLS. You will not have access to Realtor forms or the MLS.
  2. You will not have access to KV Core, so you must download anything you want to keep.
  3. You will be sent a new ICA to sign for the Referral Division, your sponsor will stay the same.
  4. You cannot have any open transactions representing a buyer or seller in Skyslope. If you do and must move to the Referral Division, you must reassign the transaction to another agent through your broker. Any transaction information you desire to have should be downloaded in advance of your migration.
  5. If you are on a team, you will need to step down from that team (including domestic partnership) to migrate to Referral. There are no teams in the Referral Division.
  6. You will have a new email alias in @expreferral.com. Your @exprealty.com or @expcommercial.com will be released.  If you return to commercial or realty, there is no guarantee you will have your original email alias.
  7. You may create and order new business cards and other marketing materials which indicate that you are with the eXp Referral Division Brokered by eXp Commercial to grow your business. However, this is optional. Such business cards and marketing materials will be at your own expense, and must be approved by the broker.
